A Phone Booth in an Office?

Yes! I now it may sound to some of you bizarre, but it’s definitely something that should be given thoughts to.

What kind of Phone Booths are we talking about?

I am not talking about regular phone booths, that we still love visiting in London (don’t we all take that typical tourist picture?).
This is a total different phone booth that helps in a way that employees seeking their space to relax, taking phone calls and just having a break from the outside world inside an office.

SIlen Space Phone Booth – Double.

Why do we need a Phone Booth in the Office?

Nowadays, offices are shifting more and more towards an open office work environment where we love to collaborate and relax in lounge areas, but also work remotely from desk to sofa and back. But don’t we all love our privacy as well?
Some of you may haven’t thought of it, but we may all have experienced a situation where we received a call in an inconvenient situation at work sitting in an open office environment, where co-workers and even maybe your manager can hear every single word, if they wanted to, and we do need to take that call. Aren’t we all searching for another area to take private phone call? Sometimes we’d walk outside or blocking one of the boardrooms?
The worst scenario is having co-workers wondering around with their phone, as they have nowhere to go, but disturbing other fellows while raising their voice throughout the workspace.

Silen Space makes the difference.

With Silen Space Phone Booths employees have the opportunity to take phone calls in a compact place, while everyone have their privacy and no-one gets disturbed. Further more, it’s a private lounge, I’d like to call it.

  3. All Spaces have hidden wheels and adjustable legs which make them quickly movable and easily installable even on uneven surfaces. The modules can be attached and detached swiftly and simply.
  4. There is the option to add Plugs and USB to any phone booth variation.
  5. The silent air circulation system guarantees a fresh atmosphere for longer phone calls, conversations and meetings while the presence detector that automatically controls the LED lights helps to keep the energy use to an optimum level.
  6. Silen Space Phone booth users have measured that the noise levels inside our pods are roughly 37 dB lower than outside of them.
  7. All floor sockets are waterproof and all Spaces are equipped with a residual current device that makes them safe to use.
  8. Heads up: You do not need a sprinkler within the Phone Booth. It will be accepted when inspected as the Phone Booth comes on Wheels and counts as a “furniture” piece.

  • Depending on your space, you may need the door handles right or left handed. Silen Space offers you to choose.

How to Work with a Designer?

For some of you it might seems very simple finding the right designer: Google –> Best designer in town –> Paying a bunch of $$ and awaiting results that reflect your inner dreams.
Exactly, your inner dreams and desire of your space!

We are designers, but not magicians.

To be clear from the start, we are talking about creative work. Design is intelligence having fun. No doubt, but there is so much more to it.

Finding the right designer and working together in a way, that we can produce a positive outcome in a timely manner. This is a checklist, knowing what to do and what to expect when hiring a designer.

Those are your first steps hiring successful your designer.

Find below 5 bulletproof points on your checklist you should know about before hiring a designer (or while you’re looking for one!):

  1. Know your Budget

Many times I have been to consultations where potential clients knowing what they want, but they have no budget in mind. 0.
I understand that the whole process can be very overwhelming and many steps are unknown, but we do know how much money we have in our pocket and are willing to spent. Trust me, it’s nothing scary to communicate your options. It will be much easier within the process to start with a clean slate.
When it comes to that question, we are asking to figure out your overall budget. How far can the design go in quantity and material of the furniture, millwork etc. We will base our choices and recommendations on that budget, which will make it much easier returning with a style guide and ideas, knowing the client will be able to afford it. Nothing worse then showcasing furniture that won’t be accessible, due to money aspects. This also occurs to a much faster result, where we come to our next point of view.

Know your Budget!

2. Time is Money

Depending on your communication with the designer, design service may include 4-6 revisions based on the options you would like to see, maybe it include only 2-3 revisions? All depending on your inquiry. But please keep in mind that more work means more time which means = it will cost you more.
Some Designers are working off a design service flat fee – which works – but only if it outlines for example how many revisions this flat fee includes. Any additional work done outside that agreement, will be billed as usually per hour. There is no way around it. Work is work.
Tip: If you’re unsure what you want, communicate that to the designer and take the time to look through your Pinterest with your Designer finding helpful information you like and dislike.

Keep in mind that time is money.

3. Recognizing that our Job is a JOB

You may think by now – I have the best idea – I call my friend, she is a great designer and would love to help. How often have we called friends and family member for help in whatever they are good at? Asking my aunt for her great recipe, asking my dad for help with the PC trouble. Lot’s of time we call the people we know. Calling you designer friend for some tips and tricks may happen, too. And I am pretty sure they would love to take some time out of their busy designer life for you. But, many times, it takes a lot of time. It results in many hours, bringing up ideas, communicating with manufactures, furniture stores, making sure you’re getting the designer discount, taking some phone calls etc etc.
It may look like it’s “just a quick consultation for tips and tricks”, but as we all know – some tips and recommendations may lead into further questions or requiring additional assistance. Your friend will automatically do what it takes to not disappoint. All this work is time consuming. That said, it’s hard work. Please recognize that. If you have a friend or family member that is a designer, please value their work and if they keep offering their help finishing a project with you, thank them and pay them!
This is not a Hobby – It is a JOB!

Please value our job!

4. Plan way ahead

Many Designers having a wait list. Get on it! As soon as you know you are going to built, renovate or whatsoever which include a designer in the (near) future – plan ahead of time. Save your frustration being on a wait list that will not make the deadline.
Besides, if your designer of your choice would be available sooner then later, furniture or millwork might not be on time. Keep in mind, that some furniture will take it’s time to be manufactured. For example Office Furniture from Knoll is taking an approx. time of 8 Weeks including manufacturing, shipping, delivery and installation.
Also, please allow the designer proper time to figure out the concept and do revisions before ordering can begin. It’s totally doable, but plan ahead.

Begin to plan as early as you can.

5. Talk to us

Always talk to us. We are a service industry and we may or may not have everything designed the way you 100% like it. Before moving on for example ordering the final parts per area – please speak up! It’s ok to ask for changes. It would be much worse to not say anything and the final order is submitted, that can’t be changed or cancelled – especially items made to order.

Communication between client and designer is essential!

I hope this helps on your exciting journey working with a designer! If you have any questions, please let me know.

7 Ways to make your Beauty Sleep a better experience

Waking up powerful and ready to take on the next day’s challenge? Isn’t that what we are all looking for ? Getting good sleep?

But can we make the moments that effect our overall health, even more exciting when going to bed and waking up? Yes we can!

Good sleep = good mood is not only caused’ by a good mattress, there is much more how we can influence our mood. The environment overall is the key.

Find below 7 Ways to make your Beauty Sleep a better experience when waking up and going to bed.

  1. Mattress: Very obvious is the fact that a good mattress is the key for a good sleep. Not the only one, but a good reason to give more thoughts. It’s important that money is saved on other expenses, but not on your mattress. We basically using the mattress approx. 6-8 hours daily. We may or may not feel the symptoms of a bad mattress right away, but it can cause’ a lot of damage in the future to your body. One of the real good mattress that I experienced myself is called “ENDY“. It’s a canadian product and is made out of three layers of polyurethane foam that are CertiPur-US certified. They are amongst the highest and safest grades of foam available in North America.
  2. Lighting:¬†How much light do you expose in your bedroom? Do you have side table lamps? What kind of bulbs are you using? Lighting plays a big role and can set our mood before we even know it. I’d recommend using warm light, that will bring coziness and at the same time brightness into your room. Your bedside table lamp shall be bright enough to support your ability to read a book or magazine, but it shouldn’t bother your eyes at the same time. I’d recommend a lighting fixture that comes with a defuser. The Muuto Control Lamp and Muuto Cosy in white Lamp are a perfect example to set your mood the way you want it.
  3. Materials: A little less obvious to some of us is that the materials that are used in a bedroom, effecting us as well. Metal, Stone and Concrete feel more cold and less inviting compared to Wood and Fabric. For example if you have Concrete flooring, I’d recommend placing a rug in your bedroom. That will make the overall look cozy and looks comfortable and inviting.
  4. Decor: Sometimes we are forgetting placing decor into our bedroom, where we spend through much more time then we think. Its the little things such as plants, flowers, candles and books that can make a whole difference in appearance overall. Think of adding picture frames, that make your bedroom a bit more playful. Prints can be changed once in a while to keep it interesting. Also, adding personal pictures are a great way to make yourself surrounded by memories you love. That’s an instant formula to feel comfortable.
  5. Color: Set the right tone for your bedroom. Picking warm and natural tone colours are very effective to feel comfortable and relaxed in your bed. This said, have you thought about picking a warm paint colour and paint your bedroom walls – maybe even just one? If you love bright and colourful, how about decorating it with bight coloured vases, candles or picture frames? Those can be always replaced once you may get over a certain colour.
  6. Bedding: Do your bed! Every morning! Being tidy and repeatedly doing your bed in the morning can be sometimes very draining, but studies have proofed that an organized bed will give us the energy and good will to feel overall organized and together in your life. A good way to start the morning, wouldn’t it? Tip on the side, after washing and drying your bedding, put the bedding a quick minute into the dyer again before putting it on the bed – this way you can make sure that your bedding is wrinkle-free and looks even more fresh & clean.

Have a wonderful Weekend and a good beauty sleep ūüôā

Xoxo, Sina
